How Just Piste collects and uses your data, the legal bases we rely on, who else processes it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete your account.
Just Piste ("we", "us") operates Just Piste at https://www.justpiste.com. This page explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it.
What we collect, and why
- Account details (email, display name, role) — created when you register to leave a review, save a resort or set a snow alert. Lawful basis: consent.
- Snow alerts and the newsletter — your email address and alert preferences. Sign-up uses a double opt-in confirmation and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. Lawful basis: consent.
- Reviews — the text, rating and visit details you submit, held until you delete your account or ask us to remove one.
- Contact and advertising messages — whatever you send through Contact or Advertise, so we can reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
- Security records — hashed identifiers that stop abuse of the sign-in, review and contact forms; we never store a raw IP address. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
- Aggregate usage counters — how often the API and the embeddable snow widget are used, counted by host and day, with no personal data attached.
Analytics
Google Analytics loads only after you accept the cookie banner — nothing is set before you choose, and there are no advertising or marketing cookies at any point. IP addresses are anonymised. See Cookies for the full list of what each cookie does.
Who else sees your data
- Railway hosts the site and the database, in the EU.
- Resend sends account, alert and newsletter emails.
- Google runs analytics, and only once you have consented.
- Anthropic checks submitted review text for our moderation queue — it sees the review text alone, never your account details.
Where a processor sits outside the UK or the EEA, the transfer is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Reviews, account details and alert preferences are kept for as long as your account is open.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from your account page. Deleting your account removes your personal details immediately; a review you left stays visible, attributed to "Former member", so it is not lost to other readers. You can object to a particular use of your data, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with our answer.
Children
Just Piste is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from a child.
Changes
We update this page whenever what we actually do changes; the date below always reflects the current version, not a template.

Analytics is switched on for this site. Google Analytics still loads only after you accept the cookie banner, IP addresses are anonymised, and no advertising or marketing cookie is ever set.
